This sad true story and these great and special pictures are heartbreaking but beautiful:
"Katie Kirkpatrick, 21, held off cancer to celebrate the happiest day of her life. Katie had chased away cancer once, only to have it return - to clog her lungs and grab hold of her heart. Breathing was difficult now; she had to use oxygen. The pain in her back was so intense it broke through the morphine. Her organs were shutting down but it would not stop her from marrying Nick Godwin, 23, who had been in love with Katie since 11th grade. Five days later, Katie died." -- Photographer Romain Blanquart.

completely tragic.
How painful and uplifting. What a brave young woman, what an amazing young man. The poor parents my heart goes out to them. I am in tears here. That was a powerful post, a testament to the human spirit. May they all find peace.
I am seriously crying and got a chill. that is so beautiful!
Girls, be shure - I´ve cryed too...and I still do, everytime when I see these pictures and read the text...

Wow... Great find, Geisslein. I'm glad they married when they did and Katie must had had the best days of her life just before she passed away. What a special couple they were indeed. Thanks for another great post! :o)

I saw this on another blog...what an amazing story. As a survivor of cancer, and the daughter of a survivor, I feel incredibly lucky. But I also know how this feels, and I haven't forgotten.
Maia,I would like to give you a hug now!I am the daughter of one how did not survived...and even though now 9 years are gone I still feel sad,but that is what life is for - we all have our lessons to learn. And I know someday somewhere I will see my parents again...
How sad.
Dear Geisslein you're a special human been and i agree with you: we all have our lessons to learn!
Kisses in your heart
